AgentEdge is your AI-referral conversion layer. When a shopper asks ChatGPT (or Perplexity, Gemini, Copilot, Claude…) for a product recommendation and lands on your store, AgentEdge detects them, re-engages them, hands them a real discount code, and proves the revenue — all without touching your theme code.

The three parts
Sense — see which AI assistants send you shoppers and how they convert (the AI Traffic dashboard).
Govern — keep the channel clean with Fraud Shield.
The one rule to understand: the shopper's original AI conversation is never readable — by anyone, including us. AgentEdge only detects that an AI sent the shopper and which one, then re-opens the conversation on your store using your product data. It never reads what they typed into the assistant.
How one sale flows, start to finish
1
A shopper asks an AI
“best minimal ceramic mug under $30?” → the assistant recommends your product and links to it.
2
They land on your store
AgentEdge reads the referrer/UTM at the edge and flags the visit as AI-referred in under 50 ms.
3
The Concierge greets them
It answers the one question holding up the purchase, then offers a discount for arriving via AI.
4
They check out with the code
A real Shopify discount code — unique and trackable — is applied at checkout.
5
You see the proof
The order is attributed back to the exact AI that sent them, with revenue, on your dashboard.
AgentEdge asks to read products & orders (so the Concierge can answer from real product data and attribute orders) and to manage discounts (so it can create your Referral Offer codes). It never asks to edit your theme.
3
Land on the AgentEdge Home.
After approving, you're taken straight to the dashboard inside your Shopify admin (left rail → Apps → AgentEdge). Detection starts immediately; the next two steps switch on the storefront experience.
Why no theme editing? AgentEdge uses Shopify app blocks and theme app extensions only. That means it's safe to install, and when you remove it your store is left exactly as it was — with your data deleted.
Getting started
Turn on the storefront (theme embed)
The theme embed is what lets AgentEdge greet AI-referred shoppers on your storefront — it powers both detection and the Concierge. Enable it once.
1
Open your theme editor.
Shopify admin → Online Store → Themes → on your live theme, click Customize.
2
Open “App embeds”.
In the editor's left sidebar, click the App embeds icon (the small toggle / puzzle icon near the bottom).
3
Toggle on “AgentEdge” and Save.
Find AgentEdge in the list, switch it on, then click Save in the top right. That's it — nothing else in the theme changes.
Test it end-to-end (2 minutes)
The Concierge only appears for AI-referred visits, so a normal visit won't show it. To simulate one:
Open any product page in an incognito window.
Add ?utm_source=chatgpt.com to the end of the URL and load it — e.g. yourstore.com/products/studio-mug?utm_source=chatgpt.com.
The Concierge card should appear, and your AgentEdge Home will record the visit.
Nothing shows up? Make sure the embed is enabled and saved (above), you created an offer, and you're using the ?utm_source=chatgpt.com test URL. See Troubleshooting.

AI Traffic dashboard
Your Home screen. It answers one question you've never been able to answer before: how much of my traffic comes from AI assistants — and is it buying?
Humans an AI assistant sent to your store in the selected window.Counted from the referrer + UTM (e.g. utm_source=chatgpt.com) — never from fingerprinting.
AI bot crawls
How many times the assistants' own indexers crawled your catalog. This is discovery, not shoppers — high crawls mean you're being read into AI answers.
Conversion rate
Of those AI-referred visitors, how many placed an order. Compare it to your store's overall rate to see whether AI traffic is warmer or colder.
Revenue influenced
The total value of orders attributed back to AI referrals (via redeemed offer codes — see Referral Offers).
Traffic by AI source
The same visitors, split by assistant, so you know where to focus — e.g. if ChatGPT drives 60% of AI traffic, tune your ChatGPT AI Source first.
The time-range control
Above the numbers is a range switch. On Free it's fixed to a rolling 7 days. On Growth you can switch between 7 / 30 / 90 days to spot trends.
🛍 Real scenario
You sell ceramic mugs. A week after installing, Home shows 210 AI-referred visitors, most from ChatGPT, converting at 19% versus your store-wide 12%. That tells you AI shoppers arrive with higher intent — worth a dedicated Concierge greeting and a slightly stronger offer for ChatGPT traffic.
Seeing zeros? AI-referral traffic usually starts small and grows as assistants index you. Use the test URL to confirm the pipeline works, then let real traffic accumulate.

AI Concierge
The Concierge is the on-page assistant that greets AI-referred shoppers, answers the question blocking their purchase using your product data, and makes the offer. You configure it as an AI Source (one per assistant, or one “Any” source for all).

Which AI assistant sends these shoppers?
The assistant this source covers — ChatGPT, Perplexity, Gemini, Copilot, Claude, and more — or Any to greet every AI-referred shopper with one source. When you pick a specific one: only shoppers from that assistant get this greeting/offer, so you can tailor tone and incentive per source.
Greeting (Growth)
The first line the shopper sees. On Free, AgentEdge writes it for you and it automatically names the shopper's AI (“Since ChatGPT sent you…”). On Growth you can edit it.You never have to hand-write per-assistant copy — the same message auto-adapts to name whichever AI referred the shopper.
Name
An internal label, visible only to you in the list of sources.Example: “ChatGPT shoppers”.
Description (optional)
Optional note to your future self about what this source is for.
Answer engine — provider (Growth)
Where the Concierge's wording comes from. Bring your own key: Anthropic (Claude) first-class, plus OpenRouter (any model) and more.On Free, answers are static / merchant-authored — no key needed.
API key + Connect (Growth)
Paste your provider key and click Connect. AgentEdge validates the key and pulls the provider's real model list.Your key is AES-256-GCM encrypted before storage and never appears in logs.
Model (Growth)
After Connect, choose a model from the live list. A pulsing green dot confirms the connection; AgentEdge auto-picks a sensible default so you can just save.
Attached offer
The Referral Offer this source hands out (created on the Offers screen). This is the code the shopper claims.
How it answers — and what it never does
The Concierge answers from your real product data: titles, descriptions, variants, price, metafields, and any FAQs you add. It does not and cannot read the shopper's original AI conversation — it re-opens the conversation on your store using what your store legitimately knows.
🛍 Real scenario
A ChatGPT shopper lands on your Studio Mug page and asks the Concierge “is it dishwasher safe?”. It reads your product description, replies “Yes — dishwasher and microwave safe,” then adds “want 10% off since ChatGPT sent you?” and shows the code. One doubt cleared, one nudge, one sale that would otherwise have bounced.

Referral Offers
A Referral Offer is a real Shopify discount code the Concierge hands to AI-referred shoppers — not a decorative banner. The shopper types it at checkout, and the sale is attributed back to the AI that sent them.

Offer name
An internal label so you recognize it in your list — shoppers never see it.Example: “AI shoppers — 10% off”.
Discount type
Percentage (e.g. 10% off) or Fixed amount (e.g. $5 off). Pick the one that fits your margins.
Discount (%) / Amount ($)
The value. The field switches to % or $ based on the type you chose.Example:10 for 10% off, or 5 for $5 off.
Code (optional)
The code the shopper types at checkout. Leave it blank to auto-generate a unique code (recommended — it makes attribution airtight). Type your own if you want a branded code everyone shares. The code can't be changed after creation — to change it, delete the offer and create a new one.
Usage limit (optional)
Total number of redemptions allowed across all shoppers. Blank = unlimited.Example: set 100 to cap a promo at the first 100 orders.
Expires in (days)
How long the code stays valid from creation. 0 = no expiry.Example:30 gives shoppers a month; a short window (1–3 days) adds urgency.
Per-customer limit
Once per customer (each shopper can redeem it a single time) or No per-customer limit (a shopper can reuse it). “Once per customer” is the safe default and prevents repeat abuse.
Applies to
All products, or scope the discount to specific products / collections so it only applies where you want it.
Shared code vs. unique code
Shared code (you type a fixed code): one code everyone uses. Simple, and the only option on Free.
Unique per-session codes (leave the code blank on Growth): AgentEdge mints a fresh code per shopper (like CHATGPT-K4F2). This makes attribution exact — every redemption maps to one shopper's journey.
How attribution closes the loop
When an order is placed, Shopify notifies AgentEdge, which matches the redeemed code back to the originating AI-referred session — and marks that revenue as AI-influenced, naming the exact assistant. That's what turns “traffic went up” into “this AI drove these dollars,” visible on your dashboard.
🛍 Real scenario
You create “AI shoppers — 10% off”, leave the code blank (auto-generate), set Once per customer and Expires in 14 days. A ChatGPT shopper gets CHATGPT-K4F2 from the Concierge and checks out for $56. Next morning your dashboard shows Order attributed → ChatGPT → $56.00. You can now prove ChatGPT is a paying channel.

Fraud Shield
Fraud Shield keeps the channel honest. It watches for abusive traffic riding the AI wave and responds with one of three escalating actions, so your codes aren't farmed and your analytics stay real.
The three actions
🛑 Block
Stop the request outright. Use for clear abuse — rapid scrapers, known-bad patterns.
⚠️ Challenge
Allow only after the visitor proves they're human. A middle ground for suspicious-but-maybe-real traffic.
👁 Flag
Let it through, but mark it for your review. Use when you want visibility without blocking anyone.
Creating a rule — every field
Rule name
A label for you — name it after what it protects against.Example: “Block rapid scrapers”.
Trigger — max requests/hour (per session)
When a single shopper session exceeds this many requests in a rolling hour, the action fires. Every message the shopper's session sends counts as one.Genuine sessions only make a handful of requests, so 20–30 is a safe starting point.
Action
What happens when the trigger is hit: Block, Challenge, or Flag (above).
Always-on protection: separate from your rules, every storefront request is Shopify-signed and every webhook is verified before processing — so forged requests never reach your data, no configuration required.
🛍 Real scenario
You notice one session hammering the Concierge hundreds of times an hour — a bot trying to farm codes. You add a rule “Block rapid scrapers”, trigger 30 requests/hour, action Block. Real shoppers never come close to 30, so they're unaffected; the scraper is cut off.
Features
Plans & billing
Billed through Shopify — it appears on your regular Shopify invoice, with no separate account, and you can cancel anytime.
Free — $0 forever
The AI Traffic dashboard (7-day window), 1 AI Source, 1 shared-code offer, and static Concierge answers. Enough to see the channel and hand out a coupon.
Growth — ~$20/mo
Full attribution, the LLM Concierge (bring your own key), unlimited & unique offers, A/B testing, Fraud rules, and 90-day history.
Upgrade, downgrade, or cancel
Open Plans & Billing in the app's left rail. Changes take effect immediately; charges are prorated and billed by Shopify. Cancelling is one click and your data stays until you uninstall.

Testing checklist
Run through this once after setup to confirm the whole pipeline works.
The theme app embed is enabled and saved (Online Store → Themes → Customize → App embeds).
Visiting a product page with ?utm_source=chatgpt.com shows the Concierge card.
The Home dashboard records that test visit under the AI source.
A test order that redeems the code appears as attributed revenue.
Test in an incognito window so you're not counted as a returning admin session, and remember the Concierge only shows for AI-referred visits.

Troubleshooting
The Concierge card doesn't show
Confirm the theme app embed is enabled and saved, and that you're testing with an AI referrer or the ?utm_source=chatgpt.com test URL — the card only appears for AI-referred visits, never a normal visit.
My dashboard shows zero visitors
AI-referral traffic often starts small. Use the test URL to verify the pipeline end-to-end, then let real traffic accumulate as assistants index your store.
An offer code isn't attributing
Unique (auto-generated) codes attribute most reliably. If you use a shared code, make sure it isn't also being handed out through other channels, which blurs attribution.
The Concierge won't use my AI key
Re-enter the key on the AI Source and click Connect again, and confirm you're on the Growth plan. Keys are validated on connect; an invalid key falls back to static answers.
